Lily 11 Months Update

Lily,
I can't believe how fast this year is going by. This time last year I was counting down the days till I could hold you in my arms. I couldn't wait to meet you in person! You are just the best little thing I could've ever imagined. I'm so thankful for being able to spend everyday with you, and I truly love almost every minute of it. Mornings with you continue to be my favorite. There is just something about walking into the nursery, and seeing your face light up when I'm singing good morning to you. In eleven months you've NEVER woke up in a bad mood. I know that won't last forever but I am enjoying it.
You were my little snaggle tooth for most of the month and finally the other top tooth came through. You just kill us with that big ole smile!!! Can we say CHOMPERS! You are so busy climbing over things, getting into cabinets, climbing up the stairs, getting through any sort of barricade I try to trap you in.  You took your first couple of wobbly steps while we were on vacation. Once with just me, and another time with Daddy and Pops.
Happy 11 Months our sweetest pea to ever be!

Clothes/Diaper Size

6-12 months
Size 3 (getting snug on that belly)

Milestones

Top two teeth (4 total)
Standing all by yourself
Took first baby steps
Climbing
Shaking your head
First time at the beach

Sleeping

Two solid naps a day. Lately, daddy and I have been keeping you up a little later with dance parties, playing, and reading in your room. If you wake durning the night you can get yourself back to sleep. So bedtime is still between 7 and 8 and wake up at 6:30ish.

Eating

Im trying to work on dropping your feedings (still 5 or 4 times a day) little girl because I know sometimes its just to soothe a teething baby. It's amazing what a little "Jet Fuel" for literally 3 seconds can do for you. I need to offer you more water or food instead, but honestly sometimes it's just easier and faster to nurse.

Lovin

Being chased around
Dancing waving one hand in the air squat it out then come back up.
Singing Current favs are Motown Hits (thanks Meme)
Clapping and waving
Talking
DOGS you have a special noise you make when you see Lucy bear or any dog for that matter.
Peek-a-boo or Pee Pie
Shaking your head

Not Lovin

Still not a fan of getting your face wiped but getting better
Diaper changes!! You can't lay down for 30 seconds. I'm pretty good at changing you standing up.

Breastfeeding And Pumping Favorites

You wouldn't know it now, but breastfeeding didn't come easy for us. I was pumping the first three months home with Lily. (You can read about our story HERE.) I'm definitely not a professional, but I can tell you what products worked, and made life a lot easier at a time when everything gets very monotonous. Here are some my most favorites!

Breastfeeding And Pumping Must Haves

Medela Pump In Style Advanced - If you are wanting to bottle feed, engorgement relief, or going back to work, you will need a pump. At first some moms have trouble with baby latching on, and moving milk efficiently. This can cause milk not to come in. So a pump will help get things going for you. I recommend a double electric pump. Makes life a whole lot easier and faster. (Check with your insurance about getting one for free)

Pumpin' Pal - These flanges are angled (genius) making it  WAY easier for the milk to flow into the bottles. Saves you from a ton of back pain. I didn't discover these puppies till about 3 weeks in, and that is a long time when you're exclusively pumping.

CAR ADAPTER - If it's a long trip, or on the way to work either way you don't have to worry about dead batteries. Oh yeah, people do it all the time! Just wear on nursing cover (or not) and go to town.

Medela Tender Care Lanolin - Although I couldn't use this in the beginning because I had open wounds and bleeding on the nips. It was helpful to rub a little bit around the inside of the flanges to help it slide better. Also, it can be used for chap stick and diaper cream in a pinch. I've heard coconut oil is amazing too!

Medela Quick Clean Micro-Steam Bags / Quick Clean Wipes - These might seem ridiculous, but when you need to sanitize ALL the pump parts for the millionth time that day you will be glad to just pop them in this bag for 30 seconds, and be done. The wipes are amazing for pumping in the car, or wherever you don't have access to running water and soap.

Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags - These are the best and cheapest I've tried. When freezing milk it's a good idea to do so in small amounts, because when the inevitable bag tear happens. It's not as depressing if it's only a 2 oz bag versus a 5 oz bag.

Fisher Price Bouncer - Wondering why a bouncer is on here? Well, when you're trying to pump, and feed the (hangry) baby at the same time, the bouncer becomes your arms.

Simple Wishes Hands Free Pump Bra - I cut holes in a few sports bras before I got this hands free pump bra. Life changing I tell ya.

Tommee Tippee Bottles - I stressed so bad over what bottles to choose. What would cause the least amount of nipple confusion? What was more like a boob? Looking back I realize it didn't really matter a bottle is a bottle. I loved the tommee tippee bottles. Easy for Lily to have a nice big latch and only a few parts to clean! Woot!

My Brest Friend - Pun intended! It has literally has been my best friend. It's so firm, adjusts to your size, makes it so easy to just hold your babies head, and have a free hand. (For all that guilt free social media time)

Bamboobies - In the early days its good for your nipples to get air so they can heal. It's not always ideal to be shirtless so these were perfect, and so comfortable with a bra. Super soft, breathable, and washable need I say more.

Elle Macpherson Intimates - When I was pregnant my boobs were expanding by the second, and the last thing I wanted to do was buy new bras, and then later have to buy nursing bras as well.  So I just got these and they have been great for both. I have really love them. Still over a year later :)

Nature's Path Organic Instant Hot Oatmeal Tervis 24 oz. - Quick easy breakfast plus oatmeal and flax seed are great for milk production. Drink WATER!! When I would sit down to pump, I could always tell a difference in how much milk I got when I drank at least 8 ounces of water. Breast milk is made up of mostly water, so drink up!

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding - Many moms swear by this book. A friend gave it to me, and I used it as a reference guide. The La Leche ladies are breastfeeding gurus. kellymom.com is free and has all the answers to anything and everything.

American Baby App - In the early months I would go crazy trying to time Lily's feedings. It was also hard to remember which boob she finished on. So this app was really helpful it timed each feeding, and reminds you left or right boob to start with next time.

Dr. Jack Newman's "All Purpose Nipple Ointment" - It's an anti fungal, anti bacterial, anti inflammatory ointment from the Gods. Get your OB to call it in before you deliver.

Splash Pad

On Saturday morning we took Lily to the Splash Pad. She absolutely loved it! Not sure why we waited so long? Oh well, better late than never.

Lily's 10 Month Update

Dearest Lilykins,

You have entered the Double Digits! I have to say these monthly photos are quite the workout for both of us! You were either ripping your moccasins off or immediately sitting up. Note to self-have Daddy help :) Maybe it's just me but I think you are starting to lean out and get your little toddler face. I love your squinty-eyed toothy smile. You still have just two teeth, but the top ones will be out any day now.  Mean teeth! I could sit in your room and watch you play for hours, it's such a joy to witness you exploring a little something new every day. Your favorite pass time is pulling all the books off the shelves. The other day someone asked how old you were, and I started tearing up saying 10 months. Time is seriously flying by. On that note, Mama needs to get in party planning mode!
We love you baby girl and can't wait to see what this month brings!!

Growth stats

None this month

Clothes/Diaper size

6-12 Clothes- Good thing about you being little is we save on clothes!

Cruising around on furniture
Thanks to your cousins visit you're saying a lot more Maaaa, Naaaaa, Yaaaaa, and I've heard a Hi/Hey a few times but mostly still a TON of Dada.

Eating

We said goodbye to the bottles, it's just Mama milk straight from the source or water from a cup.
You tried dairy (yogurt and cheese) this month, and no allergies thankfully! I guess we are in the stage where you will eat anything! Yippee
So mostly you eat what we eat. A big highlight was Daddy's burgers, you enjoyed them VERY much! Our little meat eater :)

Sleeping

We lowered the crib (Meme and I had fun figuring that out) again this month because you were using the bumper pad as a step…… Yep, you are my child.
You still sleep 11 to 12 hours and go to bed around 7 (sometimes earlier). If you wake up before 7 am we nurse then you will go back to bed another hour or so.

9 months update

Lily,

My sweet girl, you have officially been outside the womb as long as you were in it. So crazy. I feel like its been going by at lightning speed. It's hard to imagine you will be turning ONE in 3 months! I'm not ready. Not ready because I know in the blink of an eye you will be all grown up, and I'll NEVER be ready for that. You become more delicious everyday. I love watching you explore and learn new skills.  I need eyes in the back of my head. Every time I turn around you're standing up on something new like  Lucy Bear, but thankfully she doesn't mind. You keep us on our toes that's for sure ;)
We love being Mama and Dada to you sweet pea!
Happy 9 months :)

Growth Stats

15 pound 6 ounces of pure nuggety LOVE

Honestly, I have been so worried about your weight and size, because I hear all the time how little you are, but coming from your birth weight (6 pounds 4 ounces) you are huge to us. Doctor says you are perfectly normal, developmentally you are doing exactly what you should be, and that you're just petite :)

Clothes/Diaper Size

Mostly 6-9 months and some 6-12 months ( still a little big)
Size 3

Milestones

Two TEETH (bottom)
Started army crawling on the 8 month mark and now you get up on all fours to crawl some of the time
Sit yourself up from laying down
Pulling up to standing (on things that you can reach)
Walk with push walker and while holding on to our hands
High five
Dada
Drinks water out of a straw and sippy cup
Drinks out of my cup
Wave Bye Bye
First time in the pool
First time at the Zoo

Eating

Nursing has been going so great, aside from you hating nursing covers (you can find us running to the car or in a random dressing room) we have had no issues.
We stay busy with activities during the week, so lunch has been hit or miss, but I've been doing a lot better about it.

I'm probably forgetting something but…

New foods this month:
Watermelon
Spinach
Cucumber
Broccoli
Pumpkin
Zucchini
Lentils
Barley
Teething wafers
Puffs (Oh, your over being in this store? Here's a puff, instant mood changer 🙈)

Sleeping

You've had a few nights where you wake up screaming at random times. I'm sure it was from your teeth coming in, and I've heard learning new skills can mess with your sleep patterns too. Overall, your still a 12 hour a night sleeper and a 2 nap a day kinda gal. Not complaining at all :)

Lovin

Kindermusik Class
Eating with special attention to watermelon
My EOS lip balm
My water bottle
Drinking water out of my cup (monkey see monkey do as your Meme says)
Other babies

Clapping
Dancing

Not Lovin

Still hate getting your hands and face wiped after eating
Being Strapped in (car seat, stroller, high chair)
Being in the car too long
Staying up past bedtime
Strangers grabbing hold of you too soon
For the most part you are the sweetest and happiest little baby, but when you are tired or over it you can get very LOUD boisterous.

I'm trying to be a better blogger and post more about things going on during the month. If anyone has any post suggestions please feel free to email me or leave a comment below :)
